Gurame Pesmol and Nasi Liwet
Sweet, sour, and spicy yellow sauce with a rich taste of Indonesian Spices, best combination for fried fresh water Carp. It is called Gurame Pesmol, delicious Sundanese traditional food which the fish and sauce cooked together with a little addition of chillies and tomatoes.
Other than that, I recommend you to eat the fish with rice, but not just a regular rice. It is called Nasi Liwet. The rice is cooked in coconut milk and chicken broth, giving the rice rich and a little salty taste. Sometimes it served with small salted Anchovy and we can mix it together with the rice.
You can find this food in most of Indonesian traditional food restaurant. One of the restaurant that I think are worth it to try is Ikan Bakar Cianjur. You can see it here.
